The Burma Star was instituted in 1945 and was 
awarded to subjects of the British Commonwealth 
who served during WW2 in the Burma Campaign, 
from 1941 to 1945. 
The medal was also awarded for service during 
certain specified periods in China, Hong Kong, 
India, Malaya and Sumatra.
