Great Britain: British WW2 Efficiency Medal with
bar “Territorial”, attributed to an NCO (Staff
Sergeant) of the Royal Army Service Corps (RASC).

This is the 1st type of the medal that was issued by
King George VI during the period 1937 - 1948.
The Efficiency medal was instituted in 1930.
It replaced a number of existing awards (Territorial
Efficiency Medal, Militia Long Service and Good
Conduct Medal and the respective awards issued
by the Commonwealth countries).
It was awarded for 12 years of continuous efficient
service (wartime service and also peacetime
service in West Africa was counting double).
