HUNGARY: WW2 Fire Cross - 1941.
Military medal for combatants - front line troops,
with black ribbon denoting posthumous award.
Instituted in 1941, by the Nazi ally, the Horthy’s
regime, the Cross was awarded for minimum 3
months of front line service.
The date 1941 represents the year of issue.
The 1941 issued Fire Crosses are among the
rarest ones as Hungary entered WW2 in April
1941 but had very limited participation in the
operations against Yugoslavia while the
Hungarian contribution in the Operation
Barbarossa (Invasion of USSR) was limited
to the "Karpat Group" which provided
support to the German XVII Army.150
