HUNGARY: WW2 Fire Cross - 1941.
Military medal for combatants - front line troops.
Instituted in 1941, by the Nazi ally, the Horthy’s
regime, the Cross was awarded for minimum 3
months of front line service.
The date 1943 represents the year of issue.
The 1943 issued Fire Crosses are scarce, due
to the fact the after Stalingrad (Feb. 1943) and
the terrible losses inflicted by the Red Army,
the Hungarian Army practically ceased to exist
as a fighting force and was pulled off the front.
