in 1931, in Commemoration of the Death of Prince
Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy, 2nd Duke of Aosta,
Commander of the 3rd Army during the WW1 and
Marshal of Italy.
Under the command of Prince Emanuele Filiberto,
the 3rd Army gained the prestigious nickname
“Armata Invitta” (“Undefeated Army").
Prince Emanuele Filiberto died in 1931 at Turin
and was buried at the military cemetery of
Redipuglia, together with thousands of soldiers
of the 3rd Army.
