Stars (Silver and Bronze) for 2 years service as 
an Officer and as an NCO respectively. 
The medal was instituted in 1959 and it was 
awarded to the Italian forces who served in the 
operations against the German occupational 
army in Italy, after the Italian Capitulation in 1943 
and the fall of the Fascist regime. 
The medal is rarely found with 2 stars.
