Italy: WW2 Commemorative Medal of the 1st Alpine
Division "Taurinense" of the Royal Italian Army.
With the motto "Altius Tendo" (Latin: I Reach High).
The 1st Alpine Division "Taurinense" was officially

In 1940 the Division took part in the operations of
the Western Front against France.
During 1942-1943 the Division was stationed in
Montenegro. Following the Italian capitulation,
the Division was dissolved and disarmed by the

Camps, some joined the RSI Troops, while some
were executed.
The majority of the survivors joined the Italian
Partisan Division "Garibaldi".
