ITALY: WW2 Commemorative medal for the
based in Eritrea, MVSN - Militia participants
in the "Battle for Grain".
The "Battle for Grain" was a propaganda term
for the policy that was implemented, in 1927,
by the fascist regime in order to transform
Italy into being a nearly self-sufficient country
rather than greatly relying upon foreign
imports, particularly of grain.
Through this policy the regime encouraged
and financially supported the farmers (both
in Italy and in the African Italian Colonies)
who were producing crops to buy machinery
and fertilizer.
With the head of Mussolini and the motto:
"Young Prince".
The medal was established in 1937.
Signed L&C (Lorioli and Casteli, Milano).
A very rare medal.
