and maker marked "11-FI" (for Picchiani &
Barlacchi, Firenze).
Officially attributed to: De Angelis Bianca,
Rome 1938.
On the obverse: "Geneva Convention, 22 Aug.
1864"
On the reverse: Nurse School, Italian Red
Cross.
The medal was instituted in 1910 and was
awarded to Volunteer Nurses on graduation,
following the respective 3 years long course.
The medal remained in use during the period
of Mussolini's Italian Social Republic (or
Republic of Salo)
