The medal was instituted in 1908 to mark the 
Golden Jubilee (50 years of reign) of Prince 
Johann II.
The medal had been awarded to the former as well 
as to the active, at the time, members of the 
Prince’s staff and to those who had loyally served 
or had significant contribution of any form, to the 
Principality during his reign. 
The medal is rare.
