Luxembourg: Order of the Oak Crown, Officer's
Cross. In its original box of issue.
The Order was instituted in 1841 by Grand Duke
William II (his monogram is presented on both
sides of the Order) and was awarded as a
personal gift of the Grand Duchy.
Since 1890 it was generally only awarded to
citizens of Luxembourg, members of other Royal
Families and occasionally to Foreign Delegations
and Ambassadors.
Given the small population of Luxembourg, the
Order is quite rare.
This is most likely a WW1 era example.
