NAZI GERMANY: WW2 Shield Sleeve Badge "Krim
1941-1942" for the Campaign in Crimea during the
German Invasion of the Soviet Union (Operation
Barbarossa).
This is the bronze example, mounted on blue -
grey wool (rare example for the Luftwaffe - Air
Force), with the back plate intact.
The back plate is steel (magnetic).
The Shield was awarded to military personnel
under the command of Field Marshal Erich Von
Manstein, who fought in Crimea between 21
September 1941 and 4 July 1942.
The Shield was instituted in 1942 and is rather
rare as only approximately 250.000 such badges
were awarded.
The sleeve badge for the Luftwaffe is a lot rarer
compared to the one for the Army.
