Netherlands: WW2 Commemorative Military
Cross.
With the rare "Krijg Ter Zee 1940 -1945" (War
at Sea, 1940 - 1945) clasp and the respective
ribbon bar.
On the obverse: The portrait of Queen
Wilhelmina, circumscribed: "for War Actions“.
On the reverse: Marked: "KON.-BEGEER
VOORSCHOTEN", "F.S.INV"
Mounted on bar by A. Tack, Breda.
The Cross was instituted in 1944 and was
issued to personnel with a minimum of 6
months service after 10 May 1940 in the Dutch
Armed Forces, Merchant Navy or Civil Air
Service, in the Homeland or in the Dutch
Colonies provided that they "had performed
well and shown good conduct".
The clasp "Krijg Ter Zee 1940 -1945" was
instituted in 1948 and was awarded for
minimum 6 months service in the war zone,
aboard Dutch or Allied vessels that were
actually involved in combat action.
The clasp is scarce due to the small size of
the Dutch Navy.
