Netherlands: Military Cross "for the Order & Peace".
With 2 bars for the years 1945 and 1946.
Mounted on bar by A. Tack, Breda.
The Cross was instituted in 1947 and was issued to
military personnel with a minimum of 3 months
service in the Dutch East Indies (Indonesia) between
1945 and 1949, following the Indonesian revolt
against the Dutch Colonial Authorities.
Being under pressure by the local resistance and
guerilla warfare and the escalating international
criticism, the Dutch withdrew in 1949 and
Indonesia became independent.
Note that the "1945" & "1946" bar are very rare as
during the initial stages of the conflict, the Dutch
troops in Indonesia didn't exceed the 20.000 men.
