Netherlands: Nijmegen Four Day Evening
Event Cross, Silver Grade.
Also known as Nijmegen Four Day Evening
Marches Cross.
The cross was established in 1909 at the time
of the 1st Four Day March (Vierdaagse).
This type of the Cross, was issued for the
"Evening Marches" (Avondvierdaagse) - an
event that started during WW2, across the
Netherlands, when the Germans banned "Day
Marches".
It is awarded to all participants (both military
and civilian, Dutch or Foreigners) who
successfully complete all four days of the
International Four Day Marches that are held
annually at Nijmegen, Netherlands.
The award of the silver grade required the
participation and successful completion of 5
Four Day Evening Marches.
The Cross was awarded by the Dutch Hiking
Association (Nationale Wandelsport Bond -
NWB). This is a pre 1957 example.
