Poland Long Service Medal for the Armed Forces Bronze Class for V Years 1951 1960

POLAND: Long Service Medal for the Armed 
Forces "in the Service of the Fatherland", Bronze 
Class for V (5) years of military service.
Inscribed: "SILY ZBROJNE W SLUZBIE 
OJCZYZNY" (Armed Forces in the Service of the 
Fatherland)
The medal was instituted in 1951, in 3 Classes 
(Gold (for XX years), Silver (for X years) and 
Bronze (for V years). It was amended in 1960 to 2 
classes (Gold and Silver) and again in 1968 to the 
original 3 classes.  
The medal was awarded to military officers, non-
commissioned officers and civilian employees for 
long and meritorious service in the armed forces.
This is an early example of the 1951-1960 type of 
the medal.
