Romania: WW1 Commemorative War Cross
(1916 – 1918) with 3 clasps (Ardeal, Carpati
and Marasesti).
With the respective diploma to a child
soldier of the military band of the 67th
Infantry Regiment.
The medal was instituted in 1918 and was
awarded to military and civilian personnel
for service during the Great War.
Romania entered the War in 1916 on the
Entente side, despite the alliance of the
country with both Germany and the
Austro-Hungarian Empire and the fact that
the Romanian Royal House was of German
origin.
The clasps:
- “Marasesti”: for the Battle of Marasesti
(Aug. 6, 1917 – Sept. 3, 1917), the last major
battle against Germany.
- “Carpati”: for the operations on the Carpa-
thian Mountains
- “Ardeal”: for the operations in Transylva-
nia
The Cross is hard to find, especially with
original clasps and diploma.
