over the inscription "Sanitary Merit 1913"
The Cross was instituted in 1913, in 3 Classes,
to be awarded to medical personnel who
displayed outstanding skill, courage and
dedication during the cholera epidemic in
Romania (2nd Balkan War, 1913).
The decoration continued to be awarded on
grounds of Sanitary Merit until the fall of
Monarchy in 1947.
This is an example of the period 1913-1938.
A hard to find award, especially in its 1st Class.
