better quality than the common type, with the
Korean taegeuk (National Symbol) on the ribbon.
This medal was awarded to a member of the
Belgian Detachment.
The medal was instituted in this form in 1954.
The official Korean name of the medal is "6.25
Incident Participation Medal" but it's also
widely known as the "Crossed Bullets Medal".
It was awarded to the members of the UN
expeditionary forces, which participated in the
defense of South Korea, following the North
Korean invasion (25 June 1950 – 27 July 1953).
A minimum of 30 days service was required.
