Obverse: Portrait of King Alfonso XIII in uniform. 
Inscribed "ESPANA Y AFRICA" (Spain and Africa).
Reverse: Spain as female figure with a shield 
bearing the crowned arms of Spain, pointing at a 
map of Spain and Africa.
The medal was instituted in 1912 by King Alfonso 
XIII and was awarded for service in the Spanish 
Colonial territories of Africa.
