Spain WWI Order of Naval Merit Cross 1st Class with White Distinction 1870 1925

SPAIN: Order of Naval Merit, Cross 1st Class, with 
White Distinction. 
The Order was instituted in 1866 by Queen Isabel II, 
in 4 classes for meritorious service in the Spanish 
Navy. 
In 1870, the Order was amended with the addition 
of white or red enamel on the Cross to reflect 
peace or war time award respectively.
This Cross is of the pre Republican period, with 
the Crown that was used during the years 1870-
1873 and 1875-1925.
