Class, with Red Distinction (war time award
1938 - 1943) with repetition bar that denotes
a second award of the Cross.
Spanish made example with moving crown.
On the obverse the heraldic symbols of Castile
and Leon.
In the center the symbol of Granada. On the
reverse the initials (MM) for Military Merit.
The Order was created by Queen Isabel II in
1864.
This version of the medal was awarded by
the regime of General Franco (1938 - 1975)
either to the Nationalist Forces of the Spanish
Civil War (1936 - 1939) or to the Spanish Blue
Legion that served with the Axis forces in the
WW2 Campaign against the Soviet Union.
