SYRIA - French Mandate: Medal of Honor of Syrian
Merit, Bronze Class.
With officer's bar on the top of the ribbon.
Maker marked by Artus Bertrand, in its box of
issue.
The decoration was created in 1926 to be awarded
for meritorious service to the French military that
was involved in the establishment of the French
Mandate in Syria during the period 1918 to 1939.
The medal is rare.
Not to be confused with the Order of Civil Merit
(they look similar) which was instituted by the
Syrian Government in 1956.
