Silver medal, instituted in May 1950 to mark the
coronation of the King.
Obverse: The Royal Cipher of King Bhumibol
Adulyadej
Reverse: Thai inscription indicating the occasion
of the award.
King Bhumibol Adulyadej acceded to the throne
on 9 June 1946 at the age of 18 but his coronation
was postponed due to the fact that he returned to
Switzerland to complete his education.
King Bhumibol reigned until his death on 13 Oct.
2016. His reign of over 70 years is the longest
reign of any Thai monarch.
