 (widely known as Turkish Star) medal - badge. 
This medal was awarded to Turkish and German- 
Austrian soldiers who took part in the operations 
against the Allied expeditionary forces who 
attempted unsuccessfully to force the Turkish 
fortifications of the Dardanelles straits by landing 
on the Gallipoli peninsula. 
This is the Turkish made enameled example of 
the medal, for officers, marked BB&Co under 
the needle on the reverse side.
