(or Liakat Medal) for Military Merit, Loyalty and 
Bravery.
Reverse: Inscription in the old Turkish Alphabet 
(Arabic characters):
"Medal for Merit for Those Who Have Shown 
Loyalty and Bravery". 
This is a pre WW1 example.
The medal was instituted in 1890 (AH1308) and 
since 1905 it was also awarded to women.
