OTTOMAN EMPIRE – TURKEY: Silver WWI Liyakat 
Medal for Military Merit, Loyalty, and Bravery. 
Features crossed sabers clasp, dated "AH 1332" 
(1915). 
Awarded not only to Turkish soldiers but also to 
German and Austrian troops involved in WWI 
operations in the Balkans Theater. 
Instituted in 1890 (AH 1308), the medal was 
extended to female recipients starting in 1905.
