USA: US Army Distinguished Service Cross.
With pin back brooch marked G27 (Graco Awards, Inc., Tomball, TX),
an official supplier of the U.S. Government.
The Distinguished Service Cross (DSC) was established during WW1,
in Apr. 1917. It is awarded for extreme gallantry and risk of life in actual
combat with an armed enemy force.
Actions that merit the Distinguished Service Cross must be of such a
high degree that they are above those required for all other U.S. combat
decorations but do not meet the criteria for the Medal of Honor.
The DSC is 2nd highest military award that can be given to a member
of the US Army (and previously, the United States Army Air Forces
and the United States Air Force).
This example was manufactured after 1991 and the "French style"
pin on the reverse suggests that it was worn by a non US recipient,
most likely a French, Belgian or South Vietnamese. Hence, this Cross
is probably a late issue for acts related to WW2, the Korean War or
the Vietnam War.
