USA WWII Army of Occupation Medal 1945

USA: Army of Occupation Medal.
Instituted in 1946, awarded for postwar service in 
Germany, Japan, Korea, Austria, Italy, and Berlin. 
Features the Ludendorff Bridge at Remagen on the 
obverse and Mount Fuji with fishing boats on the 
reverse. 
Eligibility: 30+ days of duty in occupied zones. 
The first recipient was General Eisenhower 
followed by General MacArthur. 
A symbolic piece of both WWII aftermath and 
Cold War history.
