Vatican: WW1 "Pro Ecclesia et Pontifice"

The decoration was established in 1888 by
Pope Leo XIII, in 3 classes, to be awarded to
those who had significant contribution on his
Golden Jubilee and the Vatican Exposition.
Since 1898 it is awarded to members of the
Church (clergy) and civilians as a recognition
of outstanding service to the Pope or the
Catholic Church.
A very well preserved example of the WW1
