Albania - Communism era:  Order of Military 
Service - Medal, 4th Class.
This is the 3rd type of the medal, issued during 
the period 1985-1992.
The Order of Military Service was instituted in 
1949 as a single class award for substantial 
contributions to military service.  
In 1965, the order was reorganized to 3 classes 
and 1 medal.  
The Order was awarded to Generals and Officers 
of the People's Army and the Ministry of Internal 
Affairs for excellent results in commanding Units 
and Subdivisions. 
The medal was awarded for the same reasons to 
Junior Officers and Warrant Officers of the 
People's Army and Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Despite being a former communist country,  
Albania issued medals and decorations of high 
quality in very low numbers.
