The 55th Infantry Division was formed in
Oct. 1914 only to be disbanded in Oct. 1915.
It was reformed in Feb. 1916 and remained
active until the end of the War in Nov. 1918.
The Division initially participated in the
operations on the Eastern Front. After Italy
entered the War, the Division was redeployed
to the Italian Front and took part in the
Isonzo campaign.
