of the War Effort.
The medal was circulated during the Paris War
Support Day following the US decision to
officially enter the war on the side of the Allies
(Apr. 1917).
Obverse: The portraits of Washington and
Lafayette.
Reverse: The days 04 Jul. 1776 (American
Declaration of Independence) & 14 Jul.
1789 (Storming of the Bastille - the flashpoint
of the French Revolution).
Also inscribed: "Journee de Paris, 1917"
(Paris Fund Raising Day for the War Effort,
1917)
Signed by Gaston Lavrillier and marked by
the Paris (School) of Arts.
