Imperial Germany - Prussia: Commemorative
medal for the Engagement against the 1900-
1901 "Boxer Rebellion" in China.
Issued example, in steel, for non combatants.
The medal was awarded to Non Combatants
and to the Support personnel who had
tended the sick and wounded in the war zone
during the "Boxer" Rebellion and siege of the
Foreign Legations in Peking (Beijing) and until
their subsequent relief.
The medal was designed by Walter Schott and
was manufactured by Mayer and Wilhelm in
Stuttgart. Only 5.000 medals were issued (all
in steel).
Posterior examples of the medal exist, made
in silver, silvered bronze and silvered white
metal alloy.
A similar medal in bronze, for the combatants
also exists.
