The Queen Louise League (Königin-Luise-Bund) 
was founded in 1923 and named itself after Queen 
Luise, the wife of Frederick William III of Prussia. 
She became idealized for her feminine virtues, her 
determination and her love for her country, as well 
as for her beauty and her role in the wars against 
Napoleon. 
The league was monarchist and conservative in 
orientation and was close to the DNVP (German 
National People's Party). 
Many wives of Der Stahlhelm members belonged 
to the Queen Louise League and they were, like 
their husbands, strongly opposed to democracy 
and in favor of German re-armament.
In 1933 the League had reached a total number
of 200.000 members.
The Queen Louise League was disbanded by the 
Nazi government in 1934.
