Great Britain: British WW2 Efficiency Medal with
bar “Territorial”, attributed to a member of the
Royal Artillery.
With clasp (rare type with King's Crown - hence
a pre 1952 award) for additional 6 years of service.
Engraved: 837715. GNR. J. BRADSHAW. R.A.
(Gunner J. Bradshaw, Royal Artillery)
This is the rare 2nd type of the medal that was
issued by King George VI for just 4 years during
the period 1948 - 1952.
The Efficiency medal was instituted in 1930.
It replaced a number of existing awards (Territorial
Efficiency Medal, Militia Long Service and Good
Conduct Medal and the respective awards issued
by the Commonwealth countries).
It was awarded for 12 years of continuous efficient
service (wartime service and also peacetime
service in West Africa was counting double).
