On the obverse: The emblem of the Patriarchate
of of Antioch with Apostles (Saints) Peter and
Paul.
This is the 1st type of the Cross, issued in the
end of the 19th and the early 20th Century.
This type of the Cross is scarce.
The Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch and
All the East is third in honorific rank after the
Patriarchate of Constantinople (Istanbul, Turkey)
and Alexandria (Egypt) - it is the largest Arab
Christian church in the Middle East.
The seat of the patriarchate was Antioch, in
what is now Turkey. However, in 1342 AD, it was
moved to Damascus, modern-day Syria.
