History due to the annexation of Venice (occupied
by Austria).
Rome and the Papal States followed 3 years later.
The medal was instituted by King Vittorio Emanuele
II, in 1865, to reward the participants of the Wars.
This is the rarest version of the medal, maker
marked "CANZANI".
